if i go to look for say a netbook Windows XP on eBay, or anything else... it'll say Brand
and below all the links say sch/i
This happens with product line, format, and any of the other things.
I'm using IE8 and Windows XP here.
if i look for cd's, under condition it'll also say sch/i.
Anyone else have this problem?
I never used Ebay until recently, but I have a question for you.
What this always happening, or is it something that just started to happen?
I don't have any issues with it at all.
I am asking, because many sites are upgrading so that users that are not visual I suspect will hear odd things on websites.
No it wasn't always happenign. it has been pretty recent.
I've noticed the same thing for about the past two weeks. This computer is using xP with IE8. I think it's iE8, anyway. I haven't been on ebay with my Win7 machine.
Next time i'm up there, I'll give it a try and see what's different, if anything.
Yes, and if you've upgraded your Jaws to 14 it was designed to work with Windows 8 and IE 10.
I do think that many sites are upgrading however, and EBay would be one to keep current.
Try using an older version of Jaws when on EBay if that bothers you much.
Older than Jaws 13?
I tried Firefox under Jaws 14 and have the same problem. I'm about to install Jaws 13 and let you know how it goes.
Jaws 13 wasn't having the problem I suppose, so it be interesting to see if it doesn't again.
I can't do the test because I don't have access to a computer with XP anymore, so can't try IE 8.
jaws 13 both with the latest version of Firefox and IE8 do not work. Nor does jaws 12 under these two browsers.
I got Jaws 11 to work with Firefox latest version only, and Not IE8.
Jaws 10 also works with Firefox latest version but again not IE8. I decided not to go further back then version 10.
i'd like to note that jaws (both versions 11 and 10) readds the links as "AUCTION Not checked " for instance... rather than "Link AUCTION" but its an actual link, not a checkbox. When you click on the link , it shows you only the AUCTION's so that is a workaround.
So wayne, here's something for you to chew on. Any ideas why ebay works only under firefox latest versions under jaws 11 (and what appears to be earlier?)
Yes. EBay has been updated. That was exactly what I figured.
IE 8 works with Jaws 13, or all versions fof Jaws, however, I wouldn't think Jaws 13 would work with the latest version for Fire Fox well, because Fire Fox has been updated to work with Windows Vista 7 and 8.
It is not Jaws that is the issue on Ebay, it is the browser IE 8, or older versions for Fire Fox and Ebay! I hope that mae sense.
It works, just not well.
You remember back some time ago we were discussing how Google was going to faze out older browsers? I am thinking this is what EBay is doing as well.
You did the test I would have done to learn this.
Sense your issue is recent, this would be my thinking.
Last we had talked about IE 8 and XP being slowly fazed out of use on the web. The fazing as started earlier then I thought, but I suppose it is happening quickly.
Okay so why does the latest version of firefox and ebay work wel with Jaws 11? that is puzzeling to me.
In other words, why do i have to go so far back in the Jaws versions to get it to work better? why not work wel in jaws 12 or 13?
As i said before, the latest version of firefox and Ebay do not work on Jaws 12, 13 or 14. that doesn't make sense to me. Sure jaws 11 works , but i'd just like to know why it doesnt apply to later versions of jaws?
Scripting. Maybe you get EBay to work with Jaws 11, but you lose other functions.
Yes odd, but the case. If this just started happening, and you are sticking with XP and IE 8 you'll have to figure other work arounds as well in the future.
Yes, it did start happening not that long ago.
hmm. the scripts... that didn't occur to me.
i think that if IE 8 quits working on a lot of things, firefox latest version as long as they continue to support XP will work well.
Sites are switching to HTML5, right? and firefox supports that, but IE doesnt. I'm not sure if JAWS works with that yet though.
Fire Fox might stay with you longer.
